Day 170/365

Day 170- A NEW Pet
The Kids got a few cricket pets from a library program today... this one molted today! We caught sight of it not long after emerging from it's old skin. What a fun sight/learning experience for The Kids!!! Not the prettiest background... if I was better with PSE I might change it, but I like the wings... who knew a cricket could be so... dare I say it... beautiful!!!

I don't know if I would want it for a "pet" but it is so very cool to watch nature. It just amazes me, the more I learn, the more I realize how we really are all connected.

Hey Gretchen ~

I have a 18 - 55mm, f/5.6 and a 55 - 200mm, f/5.6, kit lenses. I found I was always switching between the two lenses and poor B had became my “lenses boy”. I didn’t like the fact I was opening up the camera body to be exposure to the damages of the outside world and I wanted a faster lens. I went with a Tamron 28 - 300mm, f/3.5. The 28mm is wide enough for my needs (although I would like a wide angle lens) and I like the 300mm for capturing my puppies and other wild creatures (although I am looking at the Sigma 150 - 500mm, f/5.6). This lenses has become my everyday lenses. It is good for marco shots, the dragonfly I recently posted was taken with this lens. It is not a true marco but does a nice job.

I wanted a true marco for really close ups and for portrait shots. I went with the Tamron 60mm, f2. I liked their 105mm also, but the 60mm was in my price range. I had the opportunity to use the 60mm lens at the beach on the evening “Phriend” and I went to the portrait class. The Tamron reprehensive was there and we could borrow any lens to take out on test drive. It was everything I had hoped it to be. It is a fabulous lens and I have a great time using it. However, it is not used everyday. It is more for when I want a different look to a photo.

My camera with the 28 - 300mm on sits on my kitchen table next to my marco. They are ready to go at anytime.
